Learning More About Taking Photographs        

Ready to take your photography to the next level? In this engaging, hands-on 3-day workshop, you'll discover how to create striking, memorable images that truly stand out. We’ll meet at Wilton High School, starting with a quick indoor lesson before heading outside (weather permitting) to put your new skills into action. Throughout the course, you’ll sharpen your creative eye using composition, depth of field, motion, and more—all with personal guidance from Fredda.    

Day 1 – ISO & Aperture Magic   

Kick off your journey by unlocking the secrets of ISO and aperture on SLR and DSLR cameras. You’ll learn how these settings can transform your photos, then practice adjusting aperture to control your depth of field while thoughtfully composing each shot. We’ll explore ways to capture not just what you see, but how you feel—and Fredda will work one-on-one with students to help bring those emotions to life in your images.

Day 2 – The Power of Shutter Speed

On Day 2, get ready to play with motion. You’ll learn how shutter speed can freeze action, blur movement, or create dreamy effects. After the demo, we’ll head out to practice, giving you the tools and creative confidence to use shutter speed intentionally while strengthening your compositional skills.

Day 3 – Editing, Insights & Inspiration   

We’ll wrap up in the classroom as Fredda reviews select images from each student. You’ll learn practical strategies for organizing and working with your photos, along with best editing practices. Fredda will demonstrate light edits, explaining what works, what doesn’t, and—most importantly—why.
