Spark your creativity and get into a present state of mind through mosaics.   

This mosaic course will be an introductory class that you can use for any applications in mosaics. Develop skills in cutting, laying pattern and color. For each of the first three classes we will work on small concept practice pieces: the first week we will work on various ways to create water, the second week we will work on various ways to create a sky, and the third week we will work on ways to create flowers. Weeks 4 -6 you will start a larger project of your own design, using the skills you have learned.

In this extended class you will have demonstrations and one-on-one instruction to guide you using a variety of materials, pottery, glass and found objects.

Spark your creativity and get into a present state of mind through mosaics. You will learn how to use a mortar method so that there is no need to use messy grout and still achieve a beautiful piece. Setting in mortar we will maximize sculptural/dimensional possibilities; building a cohesive color/material palette. We will concentrate our focus on color, style, development and individual expression.

A materials fee of $35 will cover: the flat cement base substrate, thinset, and a selection of mosaic tiles as background for your piece. All tools will be provided but you are welcome to bring in any tools you already have and prefer to work with.
