Elizabeth Ferrucci Italian for Everyone: A Beginner's Journey LA100
Elizabeth Ferrucci is a Westchester County native. She attributes her love of travel and all-things-Italian to her mom and dad. She is first generation American as her father, Giuseppe, immigrated to the US from Italy in the late 1950s. Growing up, she spent many summers in Italy visiting family in the Naples area. She studied the Italian language all through high school and in college as well. As a Vassar College junior, she spent the academic year as a matriculated student at the Università di Bologna in Bologna, Italy. After graduation, Elizabeth continued to use her Italian language skills at the Istituto Commercio Estero in Manhattan where she facilitated Italian shoe manufacturers by promoting their products in the US. This led to a transatlantic move to Milano where she worked for Fairchild Publications selling advertising space to Italian shoe manufacturers, as well as womenswear and menswear fashion designers. This position required extensive travel throughout Italy and Europe where she regularly visited clients and attended various fashion conferences. Upon returning to the US, she pursued first a masters in Communication and Rhetoric from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY, which led to a career in Software User Interface Design and Usability and then later a masters in Adolescent Education from Mercy College where she became a NYS and CT certified Italian teacher. Elizabeth has taught Italian for the Somers Central School District and for Blind Brook-Rye Union Free School District and most recently for the Greenburgh and Harrison Senior Centers.
