Bridge 1.5: Some Skills

  • Thursday: 5:30 PM – 7:00 PM
  • 4/24 – 5/29
  • Sessions: 6
9 Seats Available

Description

This class serves as either a continuation for those who have completed a True Beginner class, or those needing a refresher who are ready for more advanced play. The goal--to build a firm foundation for your bidding, declarer and defensive play.

We'll continue to use Standard American bidding based on 5-card majors and will cover important bidding conventions such as Blackwood, Stayman, transfers and negative doubles. The class will also address advances in defensive play: what card to discard, giving count, and how to use suit preference signals.

The six-week class will be guided by our instructor, Diamond Life Master Mike Hess who will use a combination of the Crisfield book, Bridgebase and ACBL software to demonstrate and guide you through all the intricacies of this fascinating game. Mike will be there guiding and instructing you in all facets of the game.

Required text: Bridge for Everyone by D. W. Crisfield is available at Elm Street Books in New Canaan, Books on Common in Ridgefield, Barnes & Noble, and Amazon.
