Exploring Watercolor Techniques

A 4-week class to introduce and explore the many different effects possible with watercolor painting. In the initial classes, the Instructor will demonstrate techniques, and then have students practice them, with a playful, loose, experimental approach. The goal is to increase confidence with the medium. In later classes, we will focus on creating artwork(s) that incorporate a variety of techniques.

We will explore using resists, masking, splattering, spritzing, scraping, stamping, sponging, crumpled paper stamping, dry brush, wet-into-wet, lifting, and brushwork.

Students should bring whatever watercolor supplies (brushes, paint, wc paper) they already have, to the first class. Other suggested supplies will be discussed.

Materials fee, payable to the instructor at the first class, is $10.
