Description

Part 1(1.5 hours)

What makes a great photograph?
In this two day hands-on workshop, students will focus on creating powerful images that stand out. On day one, the class will meet at Merwin Meadows or another specified Wilton location. Students will shoot for 1.5 hours, learning to edit the frame while shooting and how to capture their emotional reaction to a subject. Fredda Gordon will work one-on-one with students throughout the shoot, discussing the technical aspects of making an image and answering questions. Students will work on enhancing their creative vision through the use of composition, depth of field, motion and more. While SLR cameras have more options, any camera (including cellphone) is welcome.

Part 2 (1.5 hours)

On day two, the class will reconvene in the classroom. Students will download images to Fredda's computer and view the images on a large screen. Fredda will do minor editing and discuss best editing practices. She will commenting on what worked best and what other approaches or techniques might have been used to change or make the image more impactful. Together, everyone will choose each person's best images and put together in a slideshow and present to the class.

During this course, Fredda is happy to answer questions regarding your current photographic equipment or suggestions for selecting and purchasing new equipment.
