Part one of this two-part series will explore the many types of online threats and scams people may encounter, what criminals hope to gain, and practical steps for staying safe.

The group will discuss malware and ransomware, phishing messages and fake websites, social engineering tactics, tech support scams, and other common schemes. Participants will learn to recognize warning signs, understand how scams may arrive through email, text messages, phone calls, and online platforms, and consider what to do when something seems suspicious.

The session will also cover the importance of creating strong, unique passwords for each account, using a password manager, and enabling multifactor authentication.
