Paddle Tennis: Tuesday Mornings
It's Paddle season! Learn and practice the wonderful sport of Paddle Tennis at the Wilton YMCA's heated platform tennis courts. Paddle Tennis develops hand-eye coordination, agility, and tactical thinking.
Using fast-paced drills and point play, students will learn, review and practice the seven different strokes including grip: forehand drive, backhand drive, volley, lob, overhead, serve and volley combo and return of serve. Students will also learn/review the rules of the game, as well as match strategy, shot control, positioning, teamwork, sportsmanship and proper paddle etiquette.
This is a beginner class and will include playing balls off the screen.
Once the 1 hour lesson has ended, you can stay and practice for 30 minutes unsupervised with your group.
Players will be grouped according to their skill level.
Paddle is a game of chess of sorts that requires thinking while you are hitting the ball.
Playing the screen requires footwork and understanding the angle of the ball.
