Crochet: Granny Squares

Granny squares are all the rage! If you've ever wanted to learn how to crochet, now's the time! No prior experience is necessary. Throughout the course, you'll learn the basic crochet stitches needed to create unique granny squares: chain stitches, single crochet, double crochet, and slip stitches. You'll build upon these skills to make a granny square. Once mastered, the remaining sessions will be spent making either a granny square scarf, vest, or kerchief depending upon your experience level. We'll also have some fun creating granny stripes. Join us in this small class setting and see how much fun crocheting can be!

Suggested Materials List:

  • Yarn: One or two skeins of the main color and one skein for each additional color, any number of colors can be used. Preferably, light colors for beginners because it's difficult to see your stitches with dark colored yarn. Any yarn of similar weight (4 Medium/Worsted) is fine. Link for the Yarn (also available on Amazon).
  • Crochet hook: The crochet hook needed is size G. There are two kinds of hooks, the traditional aluminum ones and the newer "ergonomic" ones. The ergonomic hooks may be easier to grasp. (The instructor prefers the traditional hooks.) For the ergonomic hooks click here and for the aluminum hooks click here.
