Description

Learn the wonderful sport of Paddle Tennis at the Wilton YMCA's heated platform tennis courts. Paddle Tennis provides the perfect opportunity for fun and fitness, while maintaining social distance guidelines in an outdoor, fun-filled environment. Paddle Tennis develops hand-eye coordination, agility, and tactical thinking. Using fast-paced drills and point play, students will learn the seven different strokes including grip: forehand drive, backhand drive, volley, lob, overhead, serve and volley combo and return of serve. Students will also learn the rules of the game, as well as match strategy, shot control, positioning, teamwork, sportsmanship and proper paddle etiquette.

The second session will emphasize court positioning as well as learning to play balls off the screen. Learning the difference between shift and switch depending on where the ball is placed, will be incorporated into the clinics.

Paddle is a game of chess of sorts that requires thinking while you are hitting the ball.

Playing the screen requires footwork and understanding the angle of the ball.
