  • Thursday: 5:00 PM – 6:30 PM
  • 9/19 – 10/10
  • Sessions: 4
8 Seats Available

Description

It's Paddle season! Learn and practice the wonderful sport of Paddle Tennis at the Wilton YMCA's heated platform tennis courts. Paddle Tennis develops hand-eye coordination, agility, and tactical thinking.

This clinic is a skills refresher clinic and will get you ready for the Thursday Evening Ladies Night Play or one of the women's or men's club leagues. We need 4 or 8 players and if 8 players, the courts will be be side by side. For 7 players the pro will play in and rotate. If you attempt to register and are asked to be on our waitlist, sign up for the waitlist and we will contact you when we have a max of 8 players.

Each session will include playing balls off the screen. Playing the screen requires footwork and understanding the angle of the ball.

If you arrive at 5pm, you can practice for 30 minutes unsupervised prior to your clinic which will begin at 5:30pm. Because Thursday evenings is the ladies league, you will not be allowed to stay on the court after your clinic ends at 6:30pm.

Using fast-paced drills and point play, students will learn, review and practice the seven different strokes including grip: forehand drive, backhand drive, volley, lob, overhead, serve and volley combo and return of serve. Students will also learn/review the rules of the game, as well as match strategy, shot control, positioning, teamwork, sportsmanship and proper paddle etiquette.

Paddle is a game of chess of sorts that requires thinking while you are hitting the ball.

If you register for this clinic and also register for the Thursday evening ladies clinic, please call the WCE office to receive a 10% discount off the price of this clinic upon registering through our office: 203 834-7694. You must register by phone.
